| There
were 11 novice 8's entered in this event, so 2 qualifying
heats were run with the top 3 finishers in each
heat advancing to the final. Evergreen easily won
the heat and moved on to the final. Orange Coast
also won their heat with a comparable time, so we
were excited to face them. And what a race! Evergreen
and Orange Coast were together throughout the race.
Our hats are off to Orange Coast, they pulled ahead
with 300 meters to go and took the gold. CLICK

| An
exciting race! Washington State University was the
team to beat, being a Division 1, PAC-10, Varsity
program. Our ladies jumped out at the start and
spent the first half of the race neck and neck with
the leaders. During the second half we started to
pull ahead and kept increasing the lead, working
through WSU in the third 500 by matching their charges.
In the sprint our women really dug deep and demonstrated
some excellent form, coming accross the finish line
with open water. |

crew reported having a good race. UPS pulled out
ahead at the start and maintained their lead throughout
the race. UPS put on the speed in the sprint and
opened up their lead to finish with open water.
Though taking second place wasn't where they wanted
to be, the women weren't discouraged by the loss,
knowing that they fixed some problems experienced
in the previous race. |
